Collins completes Barnsley switch
Former Vale defender Lee Collins has completed a permanent move to Championship side Barnsley.
The versatile 23 year-old moved to Oakwell on loan in March 2012 as Port Vale’s administrators sought to reduce player wages. The deal included the option of a £50,000 permanent move to the Championship side.
Since moving to Barnsley, Collins has made four starts plus three sub appearances.
Barnsley’s official website confirmed on Wednesday that Collins’ move had been finalised and that the defender has agreed a two-year deal.
Collins joined Vale in 2008, initially on loan before the move was made permanent and made 161 starts, two substitute appearances and scored four goals.
He was named Chairman’s Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year in 2010.
