Mustapha Olagunju player profile
Port Vale FC signed young teenaged Huddersfield Town defender Mustapha Olagunju on loan on transfer deadline day 2021. The player agreed to stay with the club until the end of the 2020-21 season.
Born in London, Olagunju started his football career at the XYZ Academy, before moving to Kent Football United and then Huddersfield Town. He turned professional at the club in August 2019, signing a two-year contract.
The defender has also had two loan spells at Tadcaster Albion and Welling United, making a total of nine appearances for the two clubs.
He made his senior debut for Huddersfield Town during an FA Cup match against Plymouth Argyle in January 2021.
A tall central defender, Olagunja stands six foot and two inches tall. When he signed his first professional contract, Huddersfield’s Academy manager Leigh Bromby commented that: “His progression as a footballer in his first 12 months at Huddersfield Town has been very impressive, thanks in no small part to his determination and attitude daily in training… we’re excited by his potential.”
Olagunji made his full debut for the Valiants in a 1-1 away draw against Leyton Orient in February 2021. He made one other start and four sub appearances before returning to his parent club.
