Kurtis Guthrie player profile
Port Vale FC signed former Bradford City striker Kurtis Guthrie on a deal until the end of the 2020-21 season on the 15th January 2021. The forward joined the club after leaving League Two rivals Bradford City by mutual consent. A long-term target for the club, Guthrie had been linked with the club on a number of occasions.
The Jersey-born forward began his playing career in non-league before spells with Accrington Stanley, Forest Green Rovers, Stevenage, Colchester United and finally Bradford City. Prior to joining the Valiants he had netted 62 times in 274 appearances and had appeared for the England C side.
A powerful six foot plus presence upfront, Guthrie was keen to stress his versatility upon joining the Valiants telling the official website: “For a big guy, I’m quite mobile and can get in the channels and come short. I wouldn’t say there’s an all-out standout, I think my all-round game is well rounded.”
Guthrie finally ended a 40 game scoring drought with a goal against Harrogate Town but a scoring record of just one goal in seventeen Vale appearances saw him released at the end of the 2020-21 season.
