Port Vale take Macclesfield Town defender on trial
Macclesfield Town defender David Fitzpatrick is on trial with Port Vale FC and played in the pre-season friendly game with Blackpool on Saturday.
Fitzpatrick will be well-known to Port Vale manager John Askey who signed him when he was in charge of Macclesfield Town.
The Valiants have been looking at the left side of defence for some time. Last season, Cristian Montano switched to left-back when regular left-back Adam Crookes was injured. John Askey has made it clear that Crookes will be considered as a centre-half this season which means Vale have Montano, Zak Mills and youngster Ryan Campbell-Gordon as left-back options.
Former England “C” International Fitzpatrick potentially offers an experienced specialist left-back solution should he impress the club in pre-season.
Other trialists at Vale Park include goalkeeper Dino Visser, midfielder Ethan Beckford and forward Kieran Hayes as Askey looks to shape his squad for the forthcoming season.
