Port Vale sell striker Richie Bennett to Stockport County
Port Vale sell Richie Bennett: Port Vale have confirmed the surprise sale of striker Richie Bennett to National League side Stockport County.
Bennett was a fairly regular choice at the start of the season but has fallen down the pecking order recently due to the form of Mark Cullen and Tom Pope.
An official Port Vale FC club statement said:
Port Vale can confirm that Richie Bennett has joined Stockport County for an undisclosed fee.
The 29-year-old striker signed for the Valiants on a free transfer in June 2019 following a successful loan spell at Morecambe from his parent club Carlisle United.
He played 30 times for the Vale in all competitions, scoring on 7 occasions – including a notable brace in our 3-1 second-half comeback against Exeter City at the end of January.
Bennett joins Stockport on a two-year contract until the summer of 2022 and is expected to go straight into the play-off hopefuls squad for their National League encounter at Maidenhead United on Saturday.
Port Vale would like to thank Richie for his contribution to the club and wish him all the best for the future.
