Former Oxford Utd and Port Vale promotion winner Mick Morris passes away aged 77
We have been informed by a member of Mick Morris’ family that the former Port Vale striker has sadly passed away at the age of 77.
Morris joined the Valiants in 1967 after being signed by Stanley Matthews. He won promotion to the Third Division in 1970 under new manager Gordon Lee and in total he made 200 appearances scoring 25 times.
The striker also had a previous spell with Oxford United playing 95 times and scoring 15 goals. He also won promotion to the Third Division in 1965 with Oxford.
He later had spells with local non-league sides Stafford Rangers and Leed Town before retiring.
Our best wishes and condolences to the Morris family at their sad loss.
