Cambridge United sign former Port Vale winger Luke Hannant
Cambridge sign Luke Hannant: League Two rivals Cambridge United have announced the signing of released Port Vale player Luke Hannant.
Luke Hannant has agreed a two-year deal with United.
As soon as I found out there was an opportunity to come back to Cambridge United, it was a no brainer for me and my family are equally pleased for me to have the chance to return to Cambridge…
Former Gateshead player Hannant was signed by Neil Aspin when he was appointed Port Vale manager. The winger enjoyed a decent start to his Vale career and at one stage he was linked with a potential move to Championship side Bolton Wanderers.
However, Hannant was in and out of the Vale starting line-up under Aspin’s successor John Askey and was released at the end of the season.
Hannant spent time as a youth player at Cambridge and he told their official website: “As soon as I found out there was an opportunity to come back to Cambridge United, it was a no brainer for me and my family are equally pleased for me to have the chance to return to Cambridge.
“It’s great to move to somewhere where people know how I work and what my attributes are. The experience I have gained since I was last here has been massive because I don’t feel at that time I was quite ready to go into the professional game.”
