Port Vale fans protest against owner Norman Smurthwaite
A protest organised by the official Port Vale Supporters Club took place ahead of Port Vale’s League Two game with Morecambe.
Fans marched from Burslem Town Hall to the ground to protest against owner Norman Smurthwaite’s ownership of the club.
Explaining why the peaceful protest was organised, Supporters Club chairman Mark Porter said earlier in the week that: “We have seen none of the promised £400,000 investment, generated by the sale of Jordan Hugill, the Checkatrade cup run and TV revenue from the FA Cup match against Sunderland, in the in the team.
“The last three years has seen Vale plunge down the football league and once again we stand on the precipice of relegation to non-league football.”
