Port Vale to host Sunderland in the FA Cup
Port Vale are to host League One side Sunderland in the first round of the FA Cup.
The first round games are set to take place on the weekend of the 9th November with games played either on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

The two sides have met five times in the FA Cup with Vale holding the upper hand with two victories to Sunderland’s one.
The last time the two sides played in the FA Cup was in 1992 when Sunderland won 3-0.
Two previous ties both resulted in replays. In 1962, Vale held Sunderland 0-0 away and won a famous replay 3-1 at Vale Park. Here’s an OVF article on that game
Back in 1936, it again finished in a draw at Sunderland this time 2-2 with Vale winning the replay 2-0.
