Port Vale 5-0 Cambridge Utd 2000. The Vale scorers that night were Micky Cummins, Ian Armstrong, Steve Brooker and prolific loanee Chris Killen (2).

Worst defeat

Cambridge Utd 5-0 Port Vale 2018. It was actually Vale’s last competitive game as the season ended in a damp squib with an away thrashing at the hands of Cambridge United.

Notable others

  • Vale’s 4-2 win in 2001 saw striker Onandi Lowe score one of his two career goals for the club.
  • Vale won 4-1 in 1985 with Paul Maguire netting twice from the penalty spot.
  • The clubs’ first meeting in 1973 saw Vale win 2-1 thanks to a Brian Horton penalty and another from Bobby Gough.
