Port Vale sign Kyle Howkins on loan
Port Vale sign Kyle Howkins: the football club have announced the signing of giant defender Kyle Howkins on loan from West Bromwich Albion.
The Valiants recently lost the services of two central defenders – recent additions Gavin Gunning and Tom Anderson – through injury and were looking to add further central defensive reinforcements to their first team squad.
The 21 year-old Howkins has been with West Bromwich Albion FC since the age of eleven after progressing through the side’s junior ranks. He signed his first professional contract with the club in January 2017.
Football League experience after previous loan spells with both Mansfield Town and Cambridge United. He has also had a spell with non-league side Kidderminster Harriers. He was memorably described by Kidderminster Harriers manager Dave Hockaday as “a lot of a monster, never mind a bit of a monster… he’s a big daft, galloot! He’s got great height, he’s a great athlete, he’s big, he’s strong he’s up for the fight.”
Howkins also made 23 first team appearances during his spells with Mansfield Town and Cambridge United.
A brief official Port Vale FC club statement commented on the loan move adding:
