Paulo Tavares leaves Port Vale FC
Paulo Tavares leaves Port Vale: Port Vale have announced that another Bruno Ribeiro signing, midfielder Paulo Tavares, has departed the club.
The experienced midfielder was one of a number of foreign players to be signed by former Port Vale manager Bruno Ribeiro. He agreed a two-year deal in the summer of 2016 but fell out of favour after starting the first five games of the season. When Ribeiro was replaced by Michael Brown he found his first-team chances even more limited and it was no surprise when he agreed to leave the club this summer.
Tavares was born in Massarelos in Portugal and began his career in Senhora da Hora. He had made over two hundred appearances in the Portuguese Leagues, the majority in the Primeira Liga, before opting for the move to Port Vale.
