Ribeiro confirms interest in Benfica goalkeeper
Port Vale manager Bruno Ribeiro has confirmed he hopes to sign Benfica B goalkeeper Miguel Santos and the stopper could even play against Sheff Wed on Sunday
It would appear to be an unusual signing with Vale well-stocked with goalkeepers – with Jak Alnwick, Ryan Boot and Harry Pickering available and Sam Johnson on loan at Gateshead. Perhaps this move will see the likes of Pickering and Boot go out on loan to get more first-team experience?
The news broke via the Portuguese Record website which said that 21 year-old Santos has travelled to Burslem and will be officially unveiled in the next few days. Santos has been a regular in the Benfica B side making 50 appearances.
Ribeiro confirmed the move to Signal radio saying: “We will see on Monday because it is not ready now. He is here but we will go and see and maybe tomorrow he will play a little bit. And maybe on Monday we will maybe sign a contract. He is not our player at the moment. Maybe on Monday yes. But he is a quality goalkeeper.”
