Match report: Port Vale 1-1 Maidenhead United
Port Vale 1-1 Maidenhead United: the Valiants put on a dreadful FA Cup performance as visitors Maidenhead United grabbed a late equaliser.
Port Vale manager Rob Page named an unchanged starting eleven with returning striker Uche Ikpeazu on the bench. The Vale started confidently and took the lead when Byron Moore converted a good Louis Dodds through-ball. It was Moore’s fourth goal of the season. Maidenhead’s best chance came late in the first-half when the ball was somehow directed wide of an open goal.
Vale’s defensive errors were starting to creep into their game and Rob Page responded with two early changes – Foley and Ikpeazu coming on for Daniel and Leitch-Smith.
Foley immediately had a chance to double Vale’s lead but his effort skimmed the bar. The visitors responded with a chance for Pritchard which was over the bar. The second-half was a dreadfully poor performance by Vale and Maidenhead duly equalised in the final moments. To be fair, the visitors deserved the goal as they were arguably the better side in the second period.
