Former Valiants: Duo move on
Our latest update contains news on the whereabouts of Anthony Griffith and Brian Horton.
Anthony Griffin, who was released by the Valiants in the summer of 2014, has been released by League Two side Carlisle United.
Griffith has had something of a journeyman spell since leaving the Valiants. He had brief spells with Harrogate Town and Shrewsbury before joining Carlisle on a two-year deal in 2015.
But Griffith fell out of favour under new manager Keith Curle and was transfer-listed alongside former Valiant Billy Paynter in the summer. He has now reached an agreement for the mutual termination of his contract.
Curle told the official Carlisle website: “We agreed that he would be better to go and get the football game time that he deserves elsewhere.”
Meanwhile, a story that slipped under the radar a little was the news that former Vale player and manager Brian Horton. Doncaster Rovers announced that Horton has left his role as assistant-manager at the start of this month. There has been no news on whether Horton has other options or has decided, at the age of 66, to retire from the game.
