Scunthorpe 1-1 Port Vale
Richard Duffy’s first-ever Vale goal was not enough to earn Vale a win as Scunthorpe equalised in the final minute of the game.
Rob Page named an unchanged line-up for arguably Vale’s most important game of the season but there was a blow as Tom Pope was ruled out through a virus.
The home side were immediately on the attack with an effort seconds from the kick-off but otherwise the first 30 minutes was a scrappy affair with both sides lacking the quality to put defences under sustained pressure.
Just after the half-hour mark, Vale took a crucial lead when Richard Duffy hit home from Neill Collins; knock-down It was his first senior goal in his 97th appearance for the club.
In the second-half, after a good early chance for Dodds, the home side missed a glorious opportunity to equalise when they rattled the woodwork and Paddy Madden missed the follow-up.
Vale brought on Daniel for the tiring Campion as they came under increasing pressure from the home side. With five minutes to go, the home side missed another good chance as Bishop headed over.
Vale looked to be heading for a vital victory, but just like the Rochdale game, they were made to pay in the dying moments. In the 95th minute Kyle Wootton scored to level matters and deny the Valiants a vital away win.
