A Scottish defender who had been playing for Liverpool before he linked up with his brother Peter at Port Vale.
The brothers formed part of a formidable defence which included a seven game run of not conceding a goal in 1922.
The brothers were also moved to purchase shares in the cash-strapped club when the Chairman made a public appeal for funds.
Bob broke his leg in April 1922 and was forced to retire afterwards. He was also Uncle to Bob Pursell who played for the Vale in the 1940’s.
