Vale secured their first win of the season as Doug Loft’s late goal earned them a deserved victory over Bradford.
Vale took the lead just before half-time as Lee Hughes latched onto James Meredith’s scuffed back pass to round the keeper and tap into an empty net.
Nahki Wells fired in an equaliser from close range after the break following a brilliant piece of skill.
But Vale captain Loft had the final say when his 20-yard shot took a deflection and found the top left-hand corner.

“The commitment was there for everybody to see, and it was particularly nice after I’d questioned them last week. To get a response like that was first-class.”
