Round-up: Former Valiants news
Here is another of our occasional round-ups on the movements of former Port Vale players.
James earns Hereford contract
Former Vale midfielder Kingsley James has earnt a contract with Conference side Hereford United. James, who was on loan to the Bulls last season, has been on trial over the summer and will sign his deal on August 1st. James joins another former Valiant – Daniel Lloyd-Weston – at Hereford.
McAllister makes league return
Sean McAllister, who spent a brief spell with Vale last season, has signed a contract with League Two outfit Scunthorpe United.
Andrew impresses Mansfield
Calvin Andrew could become the sixth former Valiant to sign for Mansfield after the striker scored two goals in a friendly match. Andrew is on trial with the Stags and if he continues to impress he could join George Pilkington, Louis Briscoe, John McCombe, Ritchie Sutton and Jake Speight in the Mansfield squad.

Pearce takes two-year trip to Torquay
Former Vale loanee Krystian Pearce has signed a two-year contract with Torquay United after leaving Notts County.
Sodje feeling confident at Rovers
Former Vale striker Akpo Sodje (right) has told the press he is expecting new club Tranmere to have a good season. Sodje joined Rovers in the summer and told the press: “I think there’s every chance it is going to be a good season for us. I noticed they were short of a striker in the second half of last season but now there are a few of us here. The boys are up for it. They are looking lively.”
McDonald survives scare
Clayton McDonald’s second match for new club Grimsby Town almost ended in embarrassment after part-timers North Ferriby went ahead with just half-an-hour to go. But Grimsby hit back with four goals in the closing stages to win the game 5-2.
And finally…
Northampton Town could be the destination for two former Valiants. Darren Purse has been given a trial with the Cobblers while Aidy Boothroyd has expressed his interest in signing Liam Dickinson. They could join former Valiants Lee Collins and David Artell at the Sixfields stadium.
