Defender Clayton McDonald has agreed a one year deal with the Valiants, the fifth player to agree terms so far this summer.
The 23 year-old made 25 starts plus eight sub appearances and was dismissed twice last season. He also had a lengthy and high-profile court case which saw him missing for periods of the season.
The players who have now agreed new contracts are – Clayton McDonald, Rob Taylor, Ben Williamson, Sam Johnson and Lewis Haldane.
Vale manager Micky Adams told the Sentinel: I’m obviously pleased Clayton has agreed to sign. He has done well since he has been at the club and has the potential to do even better.
“He was under a lot of stress with everything that was going on last season, but now he can get his mind clear and concentrate totally on football.”
