Richards: I’ll keep on playing and I want to stay
Striker Marc Richards has handed Vale fans a double boost by saying he is determined to play-out the season and seek a deal to stay with the Valiants.
Richards has scored 15 goals this season and his career tally for the Vale now stands at 73, just 34 goals behind Martin Foyle, the club’s record post-war goalscorer.
Richards told the Sentinel: “I expressed my wishes to the manager and the administrator that I would like to stay.
“We can put all of the transfer situation behind us now so it’s a case of concentrating on the last eight games of the season.
“When I was told I needed an operation it was the final option left open to me.
“I wasn’t told ‘you need to have an operation’. The possibility of an operation was mentioned, but that would have just been the next step.
“At the moment I’m pretty much pain-free as I’m only feeling a little discomfort, but that won’t stop me from playing.”
