Loft and McCombe doubtful for Shrews test

Injuries continue to hamper Micky Adams’ team selections after key players John McCombe and Doug Loft both missing training ahead of Tuesday’s game against Shrewsbury.

Rob Taylor and Gareth Owen are both ruled out through injury and Joe Davis suspended so McCombe and Loft’s absence could mean Vale naming a scratch back-four.

Phil Roe could come in at left-back, while either Kingsley James or even Tom Pope could fill in as centre-half.

Chris Shuker is also a major doubt, but Clayton McDonald is back from suspension.
