Jonny Brain moves to Macclesfield Town
The transfer road from Moss Rose and Vale Park is well-worn this summer. Jonny Brain became the latest player to switch from one club to the other, as the keeper sealed a move from Vale to Macclesfield.
Vale have already signed midfielder Paul Harsley from their Cheshire neighbours and have also been linked with Danny Whitaker.
Brain was released at the end of the season after making 68 appearances for the Valiants.
The Geordie stopper had an impressive 2004-2005 season, filling in for the injured Mark Goodlad, but he made just one appearance last season as Goodlad regained fitness and top form.
With Goodlad signing a two year deal and the impressive Joe Anyon waiting in the wings, Brain was deemed surplus to requirements.
Brian Horton, Brain’s former boss at Vale Park, told the official Macclesfield Town website: “He is an excellent addition to the squad and will join Tommy in a fight to see who is number one.”
