  1. The only reason the Smurf would be interested would be because of side opportunities in property development etc. but as you say, that doesn't look something the present Owner would be unaware of, or unable to exploit himself. No doubt he's also fully aware of Norman's reputation - luckily for Tranmere, he's way out of Norman's league...

I'm not gutted for the owners if we go down, it's a harsh lesson in how not to run a football club(on the pitch).  The warning signs were there from the 2nd half of last season and weren't heeded and more poor decisions were made.  This coupled with not listening to the supporters until it's too late I don't have too much sympathy, it's 75% at least self inflicted.  Yes they've done a lot of great work at the club on a crumbling infrastructure(off the pitch) but the 2 facets need to run side by side.

What gets me is the issue of not listening to the Supporters. I realise they don't have a footballing background and that their business experience is completely unrelated but people with their obvious ability and intelligence should have been able to identify the vast wealth of knowledge and experience available to tap into from the Supporters. It's a near unique situation not available to other businesses and yet they didn't just ignore it, they sneered at it. That went well didn't it...

Gutted for owners if do go down

I won't be, I will hold them responsible for their insane devotion to Flitcroft, and which went on for so long despite the obvious need to replace him. So much so, that we are now up against it and this loss is a big deal if we want to stay up...

Yh unfortunately I think this is the case aswell. Obviously desperate for this not be the case but we will see.
Seems strange that the lads have suddenly galvanised now Flitcroft has gone and I wonder if any of this terrible season was down to them downing tools? Again I seriously hope not, but I suppose we will never know.
As always, Monday is a massive game emoji849.png emoji1787.png UTV emoji123.png

I don't know about downing tools but there's no doubt in my mind that Flitcroft had a seriously negative effect on the morale of the team and that this is shown by the significant improvement in performance since his departure. Hopefully it wasn't too late...

  5. For the new recruitment arrangements we put in place now, it's crucial that the Manager is involved and has the final say (subject to Owner's budgets of course).

Whatever you or I might think of Flitcroft the individual, the set-up we had under him was clearly unsuitable for a Club of our size and stature. However, there does have to be one person in charge of all things to do with the playing side, so for Vale, the Manager should be providing his wish list and ultimately deciding who is signed based on the recommendations of the recruitment team.

  6. Well, good riddance but now the challenge comes as to who is to replace him, as I assume Carol's ambition is still for a Club with this management structure, which I can also support if the right people are in place.

I fear its come too late for this Season though...

There were also many people on here strongly of the belief that from the available candidates Moore was the best man for the job. I myself, felt he was easily the strongest candidate on paper and many praised Flitcroft and Carol for what was seen as a coup.

Yep me too but I can say that after what I witnessed last Saturday, I now freely admit it looks like  I was wrong but let's see as I mention above.

  8. It's still too soon to beat Darren Moore up over our performance as he's been dealt a poor hand courtesy of our DOF. There's no question that our recruitment has been a disaster and the now departed loaners were disguising it.

That said, I would have expected him to create some sort of new Manager bounce but obviously not. It's all very disappointing to say the least.

    Flitcroft out!

    Fair point about attendances.

Yep, there's a natural limit there almost irrespectively of how well we do. That's clearly not understood when you consider the focus we've seen from the Owners on infrastructure. Apart from the obvious move of improving performances, which would help over where we are now of course but which wouldn't be tranformational, if you want to increase the money generated by the infrastructure then you've got to look for more non-football uses for when the facilities are, of course, dramatically under utilised.

We have seen in our not-too-distant past many wrong men at the wrong time - any managerial appointment is a risk.

We can't really know what he's capable of due to the horrendous recruiting effort of the recent past. That has to be resolved whatever happens in the next few weeks and then we will be able to judge. Flitcroft however...

  11. We are were we are. Our recruitment has been dreadful and we are up against it but for all my and others criticism of our DOF, we simply have to hope and pray that the Manager and team we have can do what is required. So, we have to get behind them until the end of the season - there will be plenty of time for recriminations in the summer but whatever happens, I can't see how DM can be criticised for much...

Think it’s crazy to pay for news that’s readily available on here or other sites much quicker personally.

Have a read of it and then you may change your mind. As people are saying here, it's more analysis and in depth information than simply match reporting and you can't find it all here or on other sites. Even if you could, it would take too much of your time to do so. So, it's good value for money even at full price.
