  1. Seems a slightly strange one to me him being recalled - I was more confident he'd stay than be recalled.

Tottenham clearly don't need him yet unlike Sheff Utd with Ollie. He was guaranteed games with us, appeared settled, and developing. I can't see him walking into a Championship level side. Even top end of League 1 will have competition in CM so he might not get a start for a while/limited chances.

  2. How many teams change over half of their defence as tactical substitutes during a match? Teams tend to pick their back 4 or 5 and leave it for the 90 minutes.

We seem to bring off a centre half at 60 minutes and then concede 5 minutes after changing the back line. And when the updated back line starts to settle 15 minutes later he hauls off another one of them and they have to readjust again.

Just wanna say thanks to Jonny and Bez (and the rotating guests) for giving up your time for another great season of podcasts. Really glad Jonny convinced you to keep it on Bez after Stu left.

Agreed. Living in the north east these podcasts have given me some of the Vale 'pub talk' back that I've been missing. Thank to Bez, Jonny, Stu and the rotating guests.

Any plans for some more ex player interviews. Really enjoy them.

I really enjoyed them too. So much so that I've tried to go back and listen to a few of the old ones. Don't know if its just an apple podcasts issue, but they only have the most recent 100 podcasts available to listen to.

I don't know if it's possible for the lads to set the ex player interviews to always be part of the 100 podcasts available, replacing some of the old match preview/reviews?

Yep for me, it was Conlon who looks to get bottled up the most. Then to a lesser extent Worrall and Pett. I wouldn't include Garrity in that conversation. For me, you can get round the opposition zeroing in on specific players by the others stepping up and using the space they've been afforded. It's happened in some games, and then not in others.

You make a good point about the wingbacks. I've said before that if you don't get those two attacking early they easily get pushed back in to more of a full back role and we lose some attacking edge. It's incredibly important that the wingbacks set their stall out early in the games.

Does anyone else have anything to add on the thought that teams are now more wise to how we want to play, and how they stop us from playing? I'll pick the best stuff up for tomorrow's pod.

The past few games I've seen teams pressing us a lot more. This seems to stifle us going forward, not because we're unconfident on the ball when being pressed, but because the players in our system (our wing backs) who would be able to exploit the space that is created by the opposition pressing, are the ones being pressed.

  6. Another good couple of pods - cheers! Only Brown, Clark, Monty and Worrall and Crookes to an extent had OK games.

We played like when you turn on a match halfway through, think one team are struggling a bit and then realise that team has a man sent off and are playing with 10.
