    Most strikers last 60-70 mins.

I remember going to Liverpool v PSG where Liverpool won 3-2 in injury time. Second half PSG started to play exceptional football and came from 2-0 down at HT. A problem was Mo Salah. He needed to come off because Liverpool needed legs and tackling to cope with the onslaught. Klopp left it too late, but eventually bought Milner on. Milner toughened the side up. But he also produced a superb bending cross when closed down and near the corner flag that was only cleared to Firmino on the edge of the box who scored.

So what I am saying is that many forwards who sprint and close down from the front run out of steam. They have to come off then or a team is playing with 10 men. It doesn't matter if it's Uche or in this case Salah one of the to[ strikers in the PL.

I think Uche will benefit from a pre season if still at PV. But with his strength and size, plus the effort he puts in, he will usually gas after an hour.

I get your point, but to use Uche in league 1 or 2 game against Salah in champions league game is no comparison. He certainly doesn't sprint or close down & will never be good enough fit or not, he is absolutely useless in front of goal regardless of fitness and the "header" and back pass of a shot v Wycombe showed that. I despair if he is with us next season as will many others.

3 in 81 appearances for us speaks volumes but didn't come from Wigan with a goal scoring record. His lack of goal contribution aside, he never seemed committed IMO in any of the positions he played in. Deffo right choice.

He was as bad as Loft & Uche when played up front ! glad see the back of him !

Again, talk is cheap, but Matt acknowledged the separation between fans and the club. That was good to hear.

Nice to see Carol will be taking a backstep but still very much committed.
Great to hear that Darren will be the football boss of everything.
Let’s not forget, we have a former premier league player and manager, who this time last season had amassed almost 100 points in league 1.

He had no pre season at Huddersfield and walked into an absolute shower here.

We go into next season with a manager who has a proven record and can now get his own players in. We also have a hierarchy who acknowledge they’ve become too nice and mistakes were made.

There were no negatives at all from Matt or Darren tonight. It wasn’t cliche crap. It was all about the hard work starts here and we know what we are doing. Especially Darren.

    To those 17 in contract…….
Look at Ben, Chizzy and Ripley.

If we can keep those three and get rid of a minimum 8 of those deadwood, I’d be over the moon.

Great post, I had some real doubts about next season under DM & the route the club was taking but after last night I am a lot more positive and warmed to DM. Positive thoughts makes the relegation that little bit easier to swallow now.

An interesting point for me is, is our relegated league 1 squad better than our promoted league 2 side?

I think it might be if you include the strengths of Garrity, Chislett and a far better keeper. I miss Worrall but otherwise despite the rose tinted glasses of the playoff campaign, this was still a limited squad. Wilson was still injured for periods as was Proctor. Harratt was not around for long.

Remember despite the decent league 1 run under Clarke early on, the squad at the end of the season was nearly relegated too!

Interesting view that, we had Connor Hall, Mel Benning & Gibbo who are all better than what we have just to name 3, I'd prefer Proctor off the bench than Loft or Uche as well & I am sure there will be others but more importantly it was more about the team ethic & will to win that makes the lge 2 side better than the current lot in my opinion.

Why would we sign a proven goalscorer in Stockton when we can re sign uche he's Guaranteed to score at least a couple of goals next season 😂...it's early days Brian but it seems lessons aren't being learnt at the vale 😬🫣

Come on Splodger ! Guaranteed to "score at least a couple" ???  We both know that's not a guarantee 😁

We never learn full stop !!

And the vast majority of them will be out of our reach for numerous reasons. I'm no fan of Uche. I wouldn't care less if both him and Loft were on the move as long as they are replaced. But out of the two, I think he has a bit more of the nuisance factor than Loft. If we were a League Two club and we signed Ikpeazu I think most would be saying what a great signing it is.

if they've seen him play they wouldn't think its a great signing.

The thought process is: We can’t afford anyone better and if you think Uche is bad, wait until you see who else we can attract.

It’s James Wilson last season all over again. We might let him go, but Uche will reappear in August, unfit, without a pre season, signing a desperate deal when we have nobody else.

If we can't afford anyone better on is supposed wages we may as well close the doors now & never open them again.

  8. Can someone please ask DM on Thursday his thought process on offering Uche any kind of terms ? What does he see that we don't?

Beggars belief we are offering him any kind of deal at all based on what I have seen from him. We're stuck with Loft so our hands are tied on that one but to think we may have those two plus maybe one more as our front line next season scares the crap out of me !!

Players who are currently under contract for next season will have a relegation clause in place why they get paid less for being in League 2.

If we keep the same budget that we did for last season, then with the slight wage decrease from each players contract, we are actually in a better position budget wise

Common sense would suggest there would be these clauses but do we know this for certain ? Can't imagine the likes of Garrity & Chis staying with a pay cut if that's the case & I wouldn't blame those two in particular & possibly Ripley in with them

This love in is getting a bit ridiculous.

Yes, he was amazing for a few months.

But he wasn't ever our player.

People acting like he came through our youth system and got sold to Sheff.

We get NOTHING for any success he might have now.

    He's gone. Move on.

Showed a lot more balls than some of those who are our players ! Some of them should be embarrassed that he's being spoke of as player of the season but they won't care.

Something tells me he’s been instructed to talk about Port Vale in the first person. It’s hilarious how he tries to fit “us” and “we” into every statement. 🤣

100% he has been told, he very nearly slipped up at one point of that interview and quickly corrected himself !

Why does Moore keep saying things like "they", "Port Vale", "the Vale".

    It's "we" Darren.

YOU are in charge of this.

    Take some accountability!

He's done that from day one if you go back & listen to his early interviews - already washing his hands of the mess in my opinion.

A draw would actually be a mega result because there are no matches left harder than this. If we can compete V Peterborough we can against anyone.

Personally I think Bolton away will be a harder game as they may still be looking at automatic promotion but agreed a draw would be a great result.

  14. Great news for the club but I'm still confused as to how some folk think it will turn the team into a bunch of fighters & good enough to stay up ??

This squad is awful and DF leaving won't make any difference to that. We can only hope we rebuild well next season UTV !!

The only thing in the future I want to know is how far away is Uche from returning .

Too me he is our best hope of at least winning 3 to 4 games .

I really like him and hope he stays at Vale .

He as so much to offer .

I've already said that's me done for the season, however   if I hear Uche 's back then he alone is worth me attending some gamesi love the way he plays ok the ball doesn't always stick but when it does the fellas a delight

If we can get him bringing out the best in Wilson Garrity and chislett again we may survive I know it seems unlikely but I stand by what I say this league is not as good as people make it out to be .

Most games we have beat ourselves .

Uche to score 7 big goals in 9 games may even bring the best out of Loft.

To be fair you are easily pleased if Uche coming back is enough to get you watching them again, I have also seen nothing to suggest he will get 7 goals in 9 games given his record so far.

Yeah gotta get rid of the dead wood

It's a no brainer , even if they have to pay up contracts ,we can rebuild with more commited players for the long term

Agreed, the only problem I have is that I don't trust the current "recruitment team" to find the replacements.
