  1. Think it’s time to get rid of this nice club mentality and do a Micky Adams by placing the whole lot on the transfer list and just hope we find some clubs as daft as us to take some of them of our hands!

Next season I want to see some winners who are hard as nails, they don’t have to be nice lads, just lads that show they care and want to win!

    Straight choice:

Option A: Put trust in DM to build a squad capable of top 7 in L2 or

Option B: Get rid of DM and put someone else in place to do the squad rebuild.

If it was my decision, I'd get rid of DM and put someone else in. My target would be Ainsworth. He must be missing football by now!

I'll renew our season tickets and back the team, whoever is in charge. I hope Carol starts listening to better advice than she has for the past few years.

    UTV!

Unfortunately Moore hasn’t shown anything to give encouragement that things will be any better with his own players, if he fails to win any of the first four or five games next season people will be calling for his head and another season will be wasted again, whoever thought giving him a 5 year contract was a good idea? I suspect this will mean he’ll stay unless he wants to leave?

  3. This squad has a losing mentality so the fewer we have stay the better in my opinion, only ones I’d like to keep would be Garrity, Chislett & Dipepa but suspect these may all get offers from other clubs,  the likes of Ripley, Smith, Cass, Plant, Shorrock I’d be okay with at Lg2 level as part of the squad, as for the majority of the rest can’t say I’d want to see any of them again as they either lack any of the following qualities : fitness/fight/ability

Maybe we should just rebuild our last lg2 side back again, let’s give Worrall, Benning, Pett, Hall, Proctor & Gibbons a call, at least these guys had some of what the above lack!

  4. Perhaps people from the club (Carol, Flitcroft etc) should venture out into the stands on Saturday and connect back with the fan base and actually LISTEN to what the fans issues / concerns are etc and get some supporter feedback from what the hardcore fans who are still bothering to turn up would like from the club going forward, they don’t have to agree with people but if nothing else it would offer some better PR from the club’s perspective and May just give them some more understanding of what the fan base are unhappy with and the best way forward, at the moment it very much comes across  like they have there fingers in ears and believe everything they are doing is right and the fans are just a lot of ungrateful moaning old so and so’s with no knowledge of football who should just turn up & jump onboard with the PROCESS, personally I thought this approach had vanished since Carol arrived but unfortunately somewhere in the last 12 months I get the feeling the club is losing the connection a little with the everyday supporters,

we are Port Vale FC not Dave Flitcroft FC

Obviously after the last cull and promotion anything is possible.

But at this moment in time I'm failing to see a team that has the ability to bounce back. Almost back to square one.

The deeper in the mire we get and the true characters are coming out. All that is down to an abysmal recruitment.

No bona fide wing backs yet we insist on playing that way regardless. And the much quoted 3 windows without a striker. It's shambolic and as a result we've got people including myself wishing for the liked of Benning back purely because his replacement has been an abomination. Other than Ripley and Chislett I'm struggling to name one new recruit who is better than what went before.

Spot on, of the permanent signings only really Ripley & Chislett look better than anything from from our promotion team we are very much a team of individuals lacking character (with the exception of a few like Garrity etc) the likes of Worrall, Hall, Benning, Proctor, Gibbons would fare better than most of our current team in lg2, as a squad we also seem to have lost any real characters & connection to the club caused by this constant squad culls every 12 months.

  6. Seems to be Carol’s vote of confidence in Flitcroft, as mentioned it tells us mostly what we already know and most aren’t disputing some of the off field things, it is the on field failures of the first team that aren’t mentioned in that letter including-

    A) Poor Recruitment of permanent signings since promotion

    B) Poor tactics/ style of play / philosophy and not having the players to fit our supposed style

    C) Poor management appointment of Andy Crosby and then the timing of Andy Crosby sacking

    D) Lack of communication from our DOF as to the reasons for some of the above

It strikes me at the moment there is a big difference as to what the owners/dof want as to what the supporters want and it strikes me that Carol is backing her own decision to appoint Flitcroft, time will tell if she is making the right call!

Askey was in charge for 23 months.

Aspin for 16 months (as good as).

What is the average tenure for managers in League 2?

How long, on average, do other clubs fans go before "the pitch forks and lit torches are out in force"? Are we particularly different to other clubs?

    Longest serving managers

The above link shows all the current managers in the top 92, in the current climate I think you are probably doing well as a manager if you manage to last 3-4 seasons.

  8. My Three Would be:-

Derek Adams - Good win ratio and has an average Morecambe side overachieving

Nigel Adkins - Might be unrealistic but strikes me as similar to Micky Adams in that he might want have something to prove also experienced and seems a decent bloke who is always very positive in his approach.

Stephen Robinson - Bit of a left field one, did well with Motherwell also brought some young players through so might fit with Carols plans.

Have excluded Paul Cook & Danny Cowley as don’t think we would tempt them, also wouldn’t object to David Flitcroft if he was chosen.
