  1. Don’t think it’s too bad a draw, yes it not maybe a real glamour tie like a Man Utd, Liverpool etc which brings in loads of money but let’s be honest there was some real shockers you could have had, this is at home to premier league who we beat to win our last trophy so at least some history in the tie, I’d be disappointed if we can’t get a gate of 8000+ for a game like this with how we are playing this season.
  2. Would have preferred it at home, but not the worst draw, at least should attract a decent gate so hopefully whatever the result we will get more than we would from some of the teams left. Not sure how many TV games are due to be on but would have thought the following are certain to be in with a chance:- Buxton v Morecambe, Gateshead/Altrincham v Charlton Athletic, Yeovil Town v MK Dons/Stevenage, Rochdale/Notts County v Sheffield Wednesday/Plymouth Argyle think our fixture probably falls on the next list of outside chance alongside Doncaster Rovers v Mansfield Town, Portsmouth v Harrogate Town, Colchester United v Wigan Athletic/Solihull Moors
  3. What about adopting some of the vindaloo song to something like this:- We are Port Vale We're gonna score more goals than you Cos that’s the wonder the wonder of you! Me and me Mum and me Dad and me Gran We're off to Vale too Me and me Mum and me Dad and me Gran And a load of ale too Vale too, Vale too we’re all off to Vale too cos we are going to score more than you Vale! followed by We are Port Vale, we’re taking the P**s
  4. Here’s my 1st attempt:- (Feel free to amend!) Verse 1 Carol has white hair, Norman is nowhere, Worrall is everywhere, Wilson’s from over there Verse 2 Conlon scores from anywhere, and Rodney will run everywhere, Jonesy can throw it from anywhere, and Stoke City’s going nowhere, Verse 3 Dennis has loads of flair, whilst Gibbo is f*****g everywhere, Smithy’s head is in there, and Dazza’s taking us up there Don’t worry I won’t give up the day job!
  5. Was a very proffesional performance from the lads yesterday, thought we looked fit and sharp, could also see improvement from last weeks friendly which is a positive, thought the midfield 3 of Pett,Walker & Conlon were excellent, really like the look of Pett and Walker yesterday both very good technically, think Pett only misplaced 1 pass all day and was always wanting the ball and used it well, whilst Walker showed a great range of passing as he was pinging passes Gerrard Esque be interesting to see the midfield now up against better opposition who don't give them as much time on the ball. Thought Benning also looked decent going forward so also keen to see more of him defensively to see how he handles it. Think that was probably 7-8 of our starting line up playing yesterday but to think we were missing Covolan,Johnson,Martin,Gibbons,Jones,Taylor,Hurst,Garrity,Amoo,Wilson,Proctor & potentially another 2-3 signings shows there is some depth there hopefully. Hoping we add another stiker as feel we still need some more firepower upfront and hopefully some real competition at right back for Gibbo to allow him time to fully recover.
  6. Longest serving managers The above link shows all the current managers in the top 92, in the current climate I think you are probably doing well as a manager if you manage to last 3-4 seasons.
  7. My Three Would be:- Derek Adams - Good win ratio and has an average Morecambe side overachieving Nigel Adkins - Might be unrealistic but strikes me as similar to Micky Adams in that he might want have something to prove also experienced and seems a decent bloke who is always very positive in his approach. Stephen Robinson - Bit of a left field one, did well with Motherwell also brought some young players through so might fit with Carols plans. Have excluded Paul Cook & Danny Cowley as don’t think we would tempt them, also wouldn’t object to David Flitcroft if he was chosen.
