Micky Adams rang the changes by including rookie forwards Ben Williamson and Jordan Hugill to devastating effect. Goals from Louis Dodds and Doug Loft put Vale 2-0 up on the half-hour mark before Williamson netted the third on the hour mark.

Worst defeat

Port Vale 1-2 Crawley, 2018.

In our latest meeting, the Valiants slumped to a disappointing home defeat. Tom Pope had put Vale ahead on 20 minutes but a 29th minute penalty and an 89th minute winner gave Crawley all three points.

Notable others

Despite just eight games between the sides, two of the games have ended in five goal thrillers with Vale’s opponents winning both. In 2015, Crawley won 3-2 at Vale Park while in 2012 Crawley won again by the odd goal in five.
