Yates and new signing Wilson in squad to face Buxton

Defender Adam Yates is set to make his return to playing action while new signing Lawrie Wilson will also feature in Vale’s friendly at Buxton.

Yates missed the whole of last season after picking up an injury in pre-season but the veteran was offered a new deal this summer.

Other players of note include trialists Billy Whitehouse, Gavin Gunning and Michael Tonge while Anthony De Freitas was named as captain.

Starting XI: Lainton, Eardley, Kay, De Freitas (C), Gunning, Wilson, Smith, Pugh, Pope, Pyke, Montano.

Substitutes: Boot, Davis, Kelly, Gibbons, Reeves, Tonge, Walford, Whitehouse, Calveley, Yates.
