Goalkeeper Alan Boswell joinedPort Vale in July 1972 and kept a clean sheet on his debut. He spent two seasons of regular football with the club before he was given a free transfer in May 1974 by new manager Roy Sproson.

I saw Alan Boswell play for Walsall. Memorably, I watched him in February 1971 when Trevor Francis played the game of his 16 year old life and put 4 goals past Alan at St Andrew’s for Birmingham City.
RIP Alan.
Pleased to see the comment that the main photograph is not Alan. I was dubious.
