Port Vale manager Darren Moore says he is solely responsible for Port Vale’s position at the bottom of the League One table but that one good result can change the side’s season.
The pressure is mounting even more for Moore after a 1-0 home loss to Peterborough United widened the gap between the Valiants and safety. It doesn’t get any easier for the Vale with the next two fixtures against Huddersfield Town and Bradford City who are both in promotion contention.
Moore told BBC Radio Stoke: “I 100% accept responsibility because that’s the role, but its my job and the staff’s job to regroup and get the players up for going again. That’s the industry and the sport we’re in, but we dust ourselves down and get ready for the next one.”
He remains optimistic the the club can turn their form around adding: “We’ve got to believe that we can search for, and find, that win that we feel will change our season around. We feel that we’re close to that one, but it’s those moments in games that aren’t going our way at the moment. We can’t feel sorry for ourselves. The only way we’re going to change it is the next opportunity.”
The Vale manager thinks it’s about mentality concluding: “If you look at the league, you can’t change it. We just need that win, and the eye for the goal and the confidence can come back. Talking about is not going to change it. We need to go through the game, feeling that suffering and pain, and get over the line in the hardest possible way.”
We’ve got to believe that we can search for, and find, that win that we feel will change our season around…

As said b4 we need to learn to win Ugly, we r already playing ugly so it shouldn’t b so hard .
Same old blah blah blah , time to leave Mr Moore only the owners want you the fans dont , and ultimately you will take us down if you dont go
Just like the local boy Captain Smith on the deck of the Titanic as it was sinking…..I take 100 % responsibility for hitting the iceberg but I will do better next time. The same old interview nonsense with unintelligible meaningless platitudes.Too late DM,we need you to go now !!
How long will it take for the club’s recent “vote of confidence” to be fully tested ? How many defeats can the Board’s faith in Moore take before they act to replace him ? Vale’s league position is dire, cut adrift and isolated in rock bottom place. It will need more than 2-3 consecutive wins to move the club clear of the drop zone. Perhaps the owners have a more old fashioned view of their manager, one that ensures job security even if the club is relegated. After all, the club’s best ever manager John Rudge endured a relegation, and then survived and thrived. Is that there plan for Moore ?
The owner are at fault now, Mr Moore should have gone months ago, we the supporters are still getting kicked in the teeth, by the same old story from Moore, the owners do not even talk to the supporters anymore,We are a laughing stock, around football grounds, Why don’t you get rid of the manager “good question “We need an owner that will listen , and a manager who does not talk crap the same old crap every week, please Santa when you have finished with you SACK ,give it to Mr Moore
Totally agree with majority of supporters we all can’t be wrong he has had more chances than any other manager in is position to do something but it’s the same crap every week. Don’t know what the board are doing. Leave it any longer it will be to late
I take 100% responsibility…..yes I would thinks so too. Oxford have just sacked Gary Rowett for a record less dismal. After all this time he has gone to a back 4 .
What’s his next move. If he is now a man of change how about resigning.
Flitcroft’s last act was to advise this appointment with a 5 year term. Being a Vale fan is like living a double whammy…a Labour government and Darren Moore….5 years too long!!
Heard it all before. Same sh1t different day. Time was upmonths ago. Look at Peterborough change manager and I think they have win 7 out of 11 games since and that’s the kind of form we need now, not next month. With Mr 100% I can’t see him winning 7 games in league 1 until 2030. Think his recent record with us and Huddersfield something like 5 wins in 40 plus games. Keep the clown and league2 football as certain as santa coming on Thursday. As for the owners silence speaks a 1000 volumes and as for Matt Hancock enough said.
Brilliant comment John mahon double jeopardy
Then do the right thing for the sake of the club and position were in resign so to give us a chance to bring some one new in to give us a chance to stay up
Well carol you say you love this club and yet you are just standing by and watching it die.
You have to do what’s right for the club.
As a nice a man as darren moore is he has failed miserably this season and although we got promoted last season it was with a whimper just getting us over the line with 2 games to go in a very poor league 2.
I believe that he has run out of time he has lost the supporters and he has lost the players the players themselves have had enough being played out of position being dropped when playing well.
As for his substitutions he hasn’t a clue when 1-0 down with 10 mins to go thrown on 5 forwards and hope for the best.
Then there is his player rotation i understand that injuries may cause change but how many time this season has he played the same team ?.
So please CAROL if you love this club as much as you say you do please do the right thing before it’s to late.
Unfortunately I think it’s already to late but if you bring in a manager a manager that has respect from is players and a manager that has the experience to get our club out of this mess.
We have a transfer window coming up a believe under a new manager most of this squad will show what they can do there is probably 4/5 players we need to get rid of and replace them with more willing and experienced players.
Erm I take erm 100% erm blame but erm we need erm 1 win and erm things can erm change
Mr Moore got the role on his name and he goes about his business as though he is doing us a favour.
Heavily backed by the owners last year and we just got over the line with players who are worthy of division one football, a poor recruitment window and we then play with a system which does not suit the players and to add insult players played out of their position. A negative mindset to try and pinch a one nil win in a type of football which is totally non entertaining.
It must be frustrating for those players knowing they can acheive results but the gaffer inept to realise their strengths to a suitable attacking system.
He should of gone after the plymouth game without doubt where every week he is in still in the position fans will drop off like hot cakes which will then make even more expensive to keep him while doing severe damage to the club.
Moore needs to be released of his duties as he is pinching a living ……
I struggle to read or listen Moores interviews as they are all very similar with nothing of any relevance. Looking at this one it does stink of a politicians cop out, when all excuses have been exhausted, throw yourself at the mercy of the people by accepting you have made mistakes and you recognise it, then just carry on. Not having listened to the interview it would be interesting to know if the BBC interviewer, once Moore had excepted 100% responsibility for our position, did he push Moore to actually identify what mistakes have been made. It would be very interesting to know exactly what Moore believes lies behind Vales disastrous season. Is it his recruitment, his team selections, his formations, his systems, his tactics or just all of them? To be so far behind the pack at this stage of the season is just ridiculous, and to stand any chance of staying up, Vale will need to win around 12 games in the second half of a season of which they have only managed to win 2 in the first period. This is very unlikely with Moore still at the helm and how the owners are unable to see this beggars belief. We appear to be on a rudderless ship where The Shanahan’s, Mr Cock and the captain D Moore are all out of their depth, and are helpless to save us. And what’s more worrying, seems unable grasp the urgency of the matter.
Bill Bratt can turn this club around…get rid of the Shanahans they want to turn the club into a huge business park.
Absolutely rubbish Moore needs to go
