Port Vale manager Darren Moore has told the media that wingbacks Mitch Clark and Kyle John both face spells on the sidelines.
John started against Exeter City but in his absence, Jordan Gabriel played against Mansfield Town but notably there was no wingback cover on the bench.
Moore could have called upon Jack Shorrock or Jaheim Headley although neither are suited to playing on the right flank. It means Gabriel is the only naturally right-footed wingback who is fit and available.
The good news is that Mitch Clark could be back in action soon with Moore commenting: “Mitch is still recovering from his injury. We are not sure but we think another week for Mitch.”
However, fellow wingback Kyle John faces a longer lay-off. Moore confirmed: “Kyle has picked up a muscle strain so he is going to be missing for a few games.”
It could be even worse for the Vale as Liam Gordon, who started on the left, departed injured on Saturday. If he is also ruled out it will mean that Gabriel and unused duo Headley and Shorrock are the only fit wingbacks for the cup tie against Arsenal and the League game against Barnsley.
