David Brown

Another excellent informative match preview. The vintage connection could also include midfielder Bobby Gough signed by the Vale in 1968, who also had successful seasons with Colchester in the 1970’s mainly as a top scoring striker. Of course this is decades ago now and beyond memory for most supporters. But, for me as a Vale follower since 1963 it actually seems almost like yesterday. What I recall most about Gough was his shooting power. For a smaller player it was really something. Not sure I’ve seen a Vale player with a harder shot.

Darren Brown we had a winger, John Rowland, he had the hardest shot, I have ever seen at the Vale, the trouble was when he missed they had to go to Moreland road to get the ball back, players were a different breed then.Bobby Goigh, always gave his all for Vale.If he had been under Moore, he would only of played 3 or 4 games so far this season
