Reports on social media suggest that Port Vale defender Alex Iacovitti has left the club to play in the Scottish Premiership.
Iacovitti joined from Ross County in the summer of 2023 and played 38 times as Vale were relegated from League One last season.
This summer, the Valiants have brought back Connor Hall, who plays in Iacovitti’s favoured left-sided central defensive position, while Iacovitti is yet to feature in any of Vale’s pre-season friendly games so far.
When asked about the defender’s absence, manager Darren Moore merely told the media that the player was not injured saying: “Yak’s not injured at all. He’s just getting some volume of work in before he’s integrated back in. He’s fine.” However, one post on Twitter suggests Iacovitti has agreed a two year deal with St Mirren:

This level will suit lacovitti good for the Vale and himself this I wonder if flitcroft thought was good for the Vale or the reward for himself

Probably true didn’t seem like he was going to feature also he was another player who wasn’t the same when he returned after injury wish him well for the future
To be honest he was never going to stay here for long, the Scottish league is a big pull with the opportunity of European football and playing at big stadiums like Hibs, Celtic and Hampden.
Just makes you think how good is the Scottish premiership obviously not that good to sign a league 2 player !
I thought that we would release a defender, after signing Connor Hall. I thought it was likely to be The Yak or Dan Jones, as all three left sided. I thought Jones was more likely due to his injury record. But if the club are happy with his fitness then Iacovitti would be the better option to move on, as Jones can also cover at left back, if we are playing with a flat back four.
Now that we have four strikers, I expect that we’ll still play some games with a back three, but far more games with a flat back four, depending on the opposition and who is available.
Now that we have four strikers, I also think that we’ll start far more games with two strikers. With the current squad, there’s far more opportunity to be flexible with the formation and players. I know we don’t want to get carried away before we’ve even kicked a ball in anger but I can’t help feeling that we’ve got an exciting season to come.
