“Plans are in place” – Port Vale manager gives striker search update

Port Vale manager Andy Crosby said “Plans are place and we are looking to bring in strikers soon” when asked about the club’s transfer targets.

Crosby was speaking at a “Meet the Staff” event on Thursday evening. The Valiants have revamped their squad over the summer with a number of new faces, but forward additions have been conspicuous by their absence.

When asked about if the club would be bringing in a striker, Crosby said: “Plans are place and we are looking to bring in strikers soon, notice the plural. We have a number of targets that we have been speaking to and continue to speak to. We are trying to bring a different profile of striker to the club and will continue to work towards that. The process is ongoing.”

The Vale manager also expects former youth team forward James Plant to feature in the side telling the audience: “He is an incredible example of a young person with incredible values and he grasped his opportunity when it came along. He has come back in incredible shape and that speaks volumes of his work ethic and values as a person. He will undoubtedly be a part of the first team next season.”
