You can win the odd game against the better opposition by luck more than anything out, but to already have done so three times, you don’t do that unless you have the quality to be up there yourself. Considering there’s much more to come from the likes of Benning, Pett and Rodney than we’ve seen this season, I think there’s plenty to be optimistic about…”

“We never really looked in danger and once we got the first goal I didn’t think we looked like we’d lose it either. I thought that first half we were excellent all over, a really accomplished performance that saw us keep it tight without necessarily being hung ho going forward either. Positives to take from it were the clean sheet, two good goals, a really solid first half team performance, Taylor getting minutes and Gibbo getting an hour. Arguably that’s our strongest team of the season that started the game…”

“Two underrated players that have shone for me are Dan Jones and Jamie Proctor. Jones is the full monty of a defender fleeting between centre and left back/wing. Proctor’s hold up play is immense, defenders just bounce off him and yet he still has some lovely delicate touches. Wish his volley in the last five minutes had gone in to cap a really good team performance…”

“Covolan is really beginning to looks solid and dependable, his ability to come and claim from crosses and corners is a breath of fresh air compared to prior years. The back three looked immense, would be moving heaven and earth to sign Cass up permanently in January. Smith is really growing into his role as leader at the back, doesn’t need his hand held by Legge anymore. Jones one of the signings of the season so far. Gibbo being back is huge for us, even on his less favoured side he was a big upgrade on Benning. Worrall absolutely immense with one of the best Vale goals I’ve seen live…”
