Port Vale manager Darrell Clarke says the side are “not getting the fine margins in front of goal” after they were held at home by Carlisle United.
The Valiants recorded their second successive 0-0 draw at Vale Park after the result on Tuesday night.

Speaking to the media after the game Clarke said: “It was deja vu for me, and a combination of things – their good defending, our bad finishing and final ball.
“We hit the bar and post like last the game. We’re just not getting the fine margins in front of goal. We have to be a lot better with our timings, runs and end product.
“I can’t remember my goalkeeper having a lot to do but we have to be more clinical.
“We looked a lot more dangerous than them, and than Tranmere [on Saturday) – they had more ball, but we have to have more ball and use it better.
“To be fair to Carlisle, they put bodies on the line, and we had eight blocked shots that looked like all hitting the target.
“It was a bit of good defending from Carlisle but we have to be better in those final moments.”
I think that it is probably a bit too early to start to have serious doubts about Darrell Clarke but he is certainly not getting the message concerning his use of Worrall. He is expecting him to defend when the opposition are attacking and Worrall is then lost in defence which gives the opposition full back the opportunity to move up and join in their attacking formation. Well as good as Worrall is it is impossible for him to have two roles in every game and the situation is putting Vale under tremendous pressure and is overworking Worrall.
Everybody in the Railway Paddock and Stand noticed this very early on in the Carlisle match and it had also been been abundantly clear in the Tranmere match – so why has Darrell Clarke not noticed the problem ?
