This website now has a dedicated landing page with articles, photos and loads of videos from a selection of classic Port Vale games.
While OVF has had articles on these games for some years, this is the first time they have been gathered together into one place. Recently, OVF created dedicated landing pages for some memorable Port Vale games where we have multiple pieces of content. Those games include the Autoglass Trophy final and recent FA Cup giantkillings. However, some classic games only have a single OVF feature and so a landing page wasn’t appropriate. So, OVF has rounded up all those other classic games features into a single index.
OVF editor Rob Fielding commented: “This website has been creating a number of landing pages for some classic matches and we have loads of material for things like the Potteries derbies or the play-off win at Wembley. However, some of the older games didn’t have a wealth of articles, often just a single page and it seemed a shame to leave those games off the ‘classic games’ section. So, I decided to gather all those other matches into a central page called ‘Other classic games'”
The other classic matches have been gathered into this new section and include:
- Matches from the Iron Curtain 1953-54 season
- Winning promotion at Brighton in 1994
- Several high scoring games under John Rudge
- Staying up at Huddersfield in 1998
- Sam Johnson’s memorable debut at Walsall
- and the recent cup upset of Sunderland
