Port Vale manager Jon Brady has revealed that striker Ben Waine missed the midweek game with Blackpool because of fatigue.
Manager Jon Brady has said in recent weeks that the poor state of the Vale Park pitch (and the team have played four games on it in recent weeks) is causing his side problems. The Vale manager told BBC Radio Stoke: “What we’ve been dealt with playing on this pitch week in, week out, it’s breaking the players – that’s a fact.” Defender Connor Hall also recently missed out through fatigue.
Brady told the media about Waine saying: “It was a back spasm. He’s run himself into the ground. Again, we get one body back (Garrity) and two with Connor Hall. Connor had fatigue as well and he was struggling but I thought he played very well tonight. He wasn’t at fault for the goals. But, yes, Ben (Waine) was fatigue.”
It is unclear how long the New Zealand International will be missing, but with Vale’s hectic schedule he may not be the last player to miss out through exhaustion.
With Vale facing an increasingly difficult battle to survive Waine now joins Ryan Croasdale, George Byers, Kyle John and Ben Heneghan on the sidelines.
