Goalscorer Ben Waine thought that Port Vale deserved their FA Cup fourth round win over Championship side Bristol City on Tuesday evening.
Waine scored the winner in a 1-0 win which saw Vale shut out their opponents for large periods of play.
We were organised, we worked really well as a unit and I think over the last couple of weeks we have built some momentum and there is a bit more confidence…
The New Zealand International said: “The team thoroughly deserved that. We worked so hard and worked so well together as well. It’s not a surprise we got the result at the end but it feels so good.
“We were organised, we worked really well as a unit and I think over the last couple of weeks we have built some momentum and there is a bit more confidence. I’m glad we could keep that rolling.
“Scoring a goal is nice but to get a winner like that late on is awesome. But as a whole team and staff we deserved that.”

Been a vale. Supporter for 55 years and season ticket holder I’m disabled. And have to have a carers not been for a while because of my health just wrang up and was told I can .not have a ticket for the Sunderland game because I do rot have enough loyalty points if this is the way vale are operating you’ve just lost a surporter
It seems that through perseverance, hard work, and commitment, Waine has become Vale’s number one striker. Seven league and cup goals in a combination of 25 starts and sub appearances is a decent return for a player who was virtually bottom of the striker pecking order last autumn. He’s now showing all the traits you want from a striker, sharp, full of running, doesn’t give up seemingly lost causes, an eye for a chance, and capable of cool finishes. A good news story, in a bitterly disappointing season.
