New Port Vale loan signing Ethon Archer says he’s “excited to get going” in Burslem after completing his move this week.
I haven’t played very much since the beginning of the year so I’m excited to get going and show what I’m capable of…
The forward told the club’s in-house media team: “It feels great. I haven’t played very much since the beginning of the year so I’m excited to get going and show what I’m capable of.”
Archer began in non-league and says he has battled hard to make it in the Football League. He said: “I’ve come a long way and I’ve worked very hard and I’ve been through pretty everything working in the non-league system.”
The 23 year-old says “I’d like to be the player that works the hardest. I’d say I’m skilful and I’d like to get supporters off their seat.”
Talking about his move to Vale he added: “It’s great facilities, I know the supporters are very good. I remember coming here and playing. I’m raring to go and show what I’m capable of.”
Archer could make his debut in the weekend’s home game against Exeter City.

We certainly need players capable of going past people, players capable of turning defensive positions into attacking positions a lot quicker, players who can get the ball into Cole in good positions a lot quicker to give Cole the opportunity to do what he was brought to the Vale to do. Whether Archer is a player to do this, time will tell. Either way it will give us an idea of the managers eye for a player.
