Port Vale chief executive Matt Hancock says that while he understands the club’s view may be “unpopular” they are sticking with underfire manager Darren Moore.
Moore is under intense pressure from supporters after a home defeat to Plymouth Argyle sent the club to the bottom of the table. But Hancock says that while there are some “tough conversations” taking place, they are sticking with the manager.
Talking to the club’s inhouse PVTV media team Hancock said: “I am sitting down again at the end of November and wanting to discuss where we are at. That is a commitment we are staying true to as a football club.”
The CEO admits the pressure is mounting adding: “Are we frustrated that results aren’t where they need to be at the moment and can we understand wholeheartedly why there is so much frustration among a number of supporters, both in and outside the stadium at the moment? Absolutely we can. None of us want to be where we are in the league. Darren and the team are working day in, day out to try to get us where we believe we should be which is further up that league table.”
He also acknowledged the concerns of the fanbase saying: “There is a lot of frustration in the club and a lot of frustration amongst the supporter base. For me, collectively, we do turn it around and get out of it. We do still very much believe we are doing the right things, we are showing signs that we can win football games. We believe we have the right people in the building to help us achieve what we set out to at the start of the season.”
“I know that is going to be an unpopular answer at the moment for a lot of supporters but that is the open and honest way we want to be with our supporters.”
Hancock says the club is working hard to turn things around saying: “We are looking hugely at mindset and how we covert chances, how we make sure the performances we are putting in actually give us points. They are not just conversations, there are things happening.
“Darren is changing things up and on a matchday we are trying to change things up just to try to give a different type of energy and belief amongst us all. I feel like if we can continue with the things we are doing and keep believing in what we are trying to do as a club across everything then we will get the results.”

So mat Hancock says the club are fully behind Darren Moore.
So Darren moore has lost support from the fans he has lost the players respect he has run out of ideas on the pitch.
He constantly plays players out of position he doesn’t have a clue with substitutes.
When teams go 1-0 up they know that’s enough to win against port vale because other team managers know what Darren moore will do bring on all the strikers off the bench and just hope one of them scores.
All the hard work from last season is just being thrown away.
All the plans off the pitch should be put on hold until the mess on the pitch is sorted out.
If things weren’t bad enough that statement from Hancock just about sums it up basically ‘I know we’re garbage and we’re hurtling back down to league 2 but we’re sticking with this plan (which isn’t working ) and we’re sticking the manager who the supporters want out but we think he’s great! Oh and by the way we couldn’t actually care less what the supporters think’ . So when we’re still bottom in a few months and crowds are down to a couple of thousand are we sticking with plan Mr Hancock ? Absolutely incredible !
Many supporters have been waiting for a statement from the club about Moore’s tenure. So, now we have it. Or do we ? Is Hancock’s announcement in fact “the dreaded vote of confidence” ? If so, then perhaps Moore has a few games to change the club’s results. Usually the “vote of confidence” ends in the manager’s dismissal. if there isn’t a turnaround in results quick time. I suggest that when Hancock refers to “tough conversations” that’s probably what they entailed. As a contingency the club needs time to line up a possible replacement, if the team keeps losing. So, at least for the time being, Moore stays in control. In the unlikely but possible event results do dramatically improve, the atmosphere could be transformed. Irrespective, there’s certainly a hardcore of supporters who have little or no faith in Moore due to his muddled and jumbled tactics. The club should still do their homework on a suitable replacement, if and when they decide to act. That’s what the “vote of confidence” is really about.
Thus guy is as deluded as Mr Moore. LEAGUE 2 READY EVERYONE
Time to start voting with our feet and our money, you Hancock have no interest in Port Vale, Keeping Moore is suicide for the club, you Mr Moore have no Moral standards ,Half a man would Resign.YOU CAN NOT MANAGE, ANY FOOTBALL CLUB, you are like a Velcro Vampire sucking the life blood out of the club.I listened to the captain Ben Garrity yesterday he, he sounds really down in the dumps, but with you as a manager, and Carol as your side kick, we have NO CHANCE OF SURVIVAL.
Why would any club give a previously failed manager a 5 year contract? Albeit he has failed again and needs to go. My fear is that the board have little imagination for recruitment. I would like to help them with a few names for DMs replacement.
Robin van Delaan
Ronnie Jepson.
Steve Bould.
My first choice has retired, (Mike Pejic.)
All local lads with a sting in their tail (and tongue).
I knew the board would come out with this, is it a few more games to turn it around, or is it he stays. I think they will give him till jan then bring some one in. They won’t make the same mistake as last time surely. Can’t see him turning it around my self has he still does not know is best team or the positions to put them in. New manager will look for playing a back four with proper defenders if not we will go down. Sometimes we just have to look at our team and say we are not good enough for this league. New manager for me with better players.
League 2 next season that’s about Darren Moores level out of his depth in this division he said when they were prompted we aren’t here to make the numbers up
“Darren is changing things up and on a match day we are trying to change things up just to try to give a different type of energy and belief amongst us all. I feel like if we can continue with the things we are doing and keep believing in what we are trying to do as a club across everything then we will get the results.”
Exactly what we as fans have been concerned about because it isn’t working obviously and no matter what this isn’t and won’t get consistency in producing results.
I CANT BELIEVE IT!
If there was ever a kick in the teeth for supporters this statement was it are the management watching a different team, this is not something that has happened overnight, I think the CEO should follow DM to the dole office it is time supporters voted with their feet, they have obviously forgotten this is out club and without us there is no Vale. FOR GODS SAKE LISTEN TO THE SUPPORTERS before it is too late!!!!
Why why won’t they listen to the people who pay their wages every month, I won’t be going another match until that clown as gone, I’m not wasting my hard earned money watching rubbish.
Same mistakes as two seasons ago carol as usual dithering to make a decision probably in February after the transfer window has closed and then give another has-been a ten year contract never mind league two with these bunch of amateurs we will be struggling in non league carol sell the club to someone who knows about football
The dreaded vote of confidence !!!! But the worry ihave is if DM goes who could get a tune out of our dreadful squad the worst in living memory unfortunately Tommy Cooper & Paul Daniels are in the great magic circle in the sky please not league two UTV Come on boys prove me wrong
Who was it at the Vale who did due diligence on Moores history eg. Manager at West Brom – sacked, Manager at Doncaster-head hunted by Sheff. Wednesday,- left by mutual consent. Manager of Huddersfield- sacked after a few months .
Manager of Port Vale
Who the hell decided that this man was worth a 5 year contract.
What team in the top 6 of the Premier League plays the ludicrous 3 at the back . But Moore decides it’s the way the Vale will play, Crazy .
Is it any wonder why the club is where it is, it’s being run into the ground by these three clowns in charge. I remember at the start of last season, when the three stooges held their meet fans. Hancock who has basically worked in football all his working life openly admitted, he’d never been to Salford (our first opponents) and he didn’t even know where Barrow was!! That’s ridiculous for someone making a life in football for himself. Carol was boasting about how, all our management and coaching team had over 1000 premiership games under their belts. What the hell does that matter!! And Dopey said “we would learn from last season” think I’ve heard that somewhere else!!! Vale are down with another massive financial loss!!!!
HELLO! OWNERS AND SPOKESPERSONS _ THE ‘PLAN’ IS NOT WORKING, WE ARE SLIDING SO FAST DOWN THE LEAGUE LADDER WE ARE GOING TO CATCH FIRE! YOU HAD BETTER MAKE SOME SERIOUS MOVES BEFORE THE LONG SUFFERING PASSENGERS LOWER THE BOATS AND LEAVE YOU TO CONTINUE ON THIS JOURNEY OF SELF DESTRUCTION. FOR GOODNESS SAKE FIND SOMEONE WHO KNOWS HOW TO GET BACK ON COURSE BEFORE YOU SINK INTO OBSCURITY.
This team is back to the David Flitcroft days when he promised strikers that never happened. So folks looking like Divison 2 again . I haven’t been a Vale game since we started loosing until Darren Moore has gone it’s my last game there’s no way I’m spending money on trash .I think I’ll save my money on better things like a holiday
Does anyone running the club realise that fans pay good money to be entertained , that means goals and winning games. We will achieve neither with these tactics, mass team changes and so many players playing out of position
The Manager has.a blinkered approach with his wing backs but it doesnt work. Look at his record for us in league 1. Won 5 out of 35 matches. And you still feel hes the best man for the job? I cant atrend games niw byt pay now tv so I can watch some games. Today I cancelled it. Sorry Now tv
“We are showing signs that we can win football games ” hmmm my understanding of football is to put the ball in the oppositions goal, something we haven’t been doing or infact showing any signs of doing so. So what an utter load of tosh you are spouting Mr Hancock.
Sorry if you are sticking with Moore then you need to go as well . I have been a vale supporter since the 1955 and I never found so let down with the football that Moore thinks is football since the Plymouth match I will not come again to see my great club until Moore has left .
Vale forever
Been going to watch the Vale for 63 years never felt so despondent as this season can’t defend can’t score absolute garbage got an owner with a big heart for the club but clueless how to run it a ceo who must be watching another team if he thinks this is acceptable a manager who would get an under 10’s side relegated something got to be done soon grow a pair carol and please bin this clown of a manager
Sorry Matt but you and Carol are so out of touch with the fans but soon the gates will dwindle and if you do decide we need a new manager don’t leave it till the transfer window has shut
IF,IF the vale get beaten by more than one goal, imagine what the attendance might be at the next home game.
Bradford at home then away to Luton. I then can’t see the league position altering.
Similar circumstances as the last time that we were in L1.
Hoping that I am wrong but? UTV.
