Veteran left wingback Marvin Johnson is set to be missing for a number of weeks – which is probably the last news that manager Darren Moore wants to hear.
The Valiants have now gone seven League games without a win and fan discontent against the manager is clearly growing.
The 34 year-old wingback was forced off after 41 minutes of Vale’s 0-0 home draw with Wycombe Wanderers. The club would have been hopeful of a quick return. However, The Valiant newsletter reports that Johnson is set to be sidelined for several weeks with injury while fellow wingbacks Liam Gordon, Jordan Gabriel and Mitch Clark are also on the treatment table.
It means the Vale are down to their last two senior wingbacks in Kyle John and Jaheim Headley. The Valiants also have youth team graduates Ben Lomax and Jack Shorrock – but the former does not appear to be trusted by Moore while the latter has been sent on loan to National League North side Chester.
Vale’s next game is a trip to Lincoln City.

It was a running theme at Huddersfield and Doncaster , where a lot of injuries happened. The fans put it down to Moore and his type of training.
I can’t believee we are still talking about him Mr Moore as the manager, everywhere he has been he has left mayhem, TIME TO ACT Carol, yes the time is now, Port Vale is dying on its feet.
Still waiting for carol to sack him
Kyle John isn’t a wing back he’s more comfortable as a left or right back. Jahiem Headley is comfortable in a attacking role but his defending can be poor at times. I can’t understand his thinking when he loaned out Hart, Plant, Lomax and Shorrock who could fill in positions in the squad.
Moore must go now he’s already put Vale on the slippery slope to relegation to L2 he can’t be allowed to inflict more damage to a squad which is low on confidence. I’ve just seen that Port Vale are backing Darren Moore. Unbelievable but understandable given that no body in charge really knows nothing about football.
I’ve been waiting for news of his sacking since 245 on Saturday. Come on Carol put us out of our misery and sack this clown. Feel sorry for Johnson looked promising. But it’s OK because I believe marko marosi number hit by Mr disappointing moores dart and he’s playing left back on Saturday . Looking forward to Saturday if this idiot is still in charge, another defeat beckons and interesting what kind of reception he will receive from the vale faithful.
Could it be that they realise they should sack Moore but can’t afford because of the ridiculous decision to award him with a five year contract
