Port Vale forward Jayden Stockley says the players have had a positive meeting to discuss the team’s predicament but they are fully aware that they now need to produce the goods on the pitch.
The striker told BBC Radio Stoke: “First and foremost those lads in the dressing room are hurting. They are huge games which we didn’t get the better of. That group has come together and accepted accountability. We feel that we are a much better side than the table suggests but we are very aware that the only way to rectify things is results on the pitch.”
Stockley revealed that the players and staff have met to discuss the form adding: “The group is fantastic. Everyone has a say. Ultimately everyone wants to get up the table as quickly as possible. Airing those views in the dressing room has had a positive effect.
“The accountability is huge for us. The games are being swung by moments. We are aware that we need to take accountability. It’s not something we can address with a click of the fingers, sometimes you can’t measure. It’s inner confidence, it’s something happening on the pitch. I have no doubt we are going to get out of this situation.”
As for his own form, Stockley is honest enough to admit he’s not been at his best. He added: “I’ve tried to address my game and coming on and having an impact. There have been times this season where I haven’t done enough when I’ve come on and not made an impact. Ultimately the manager picks the team and I’ll never begrudge anyone of that (selection choice). If it (his game time) is going to come from cameos from the bench then I need to do more.”

Heard it all before he needs to be honest enough to admit the game as now passed him by&several other members of the squad are no better than non league standard!! Please please ram these comments down my throat and prove me wrong starting at Lincoln on Saturday UTV
“Cameos from the bench” been the biggest problem we’ve had every game. Its like Mr Ben from game to game ever likely your all unsure whose strengths are what. Then leave players out in positions we are struggling to fill and put in players uncomfortable too play in there. We loan out PROVEN players and players who have worked their socks off to get a shirt arena even starting. Whats going on Mr Moore, I’ve given my backing and got in quite a few heated discussions to defend some of your strange changes as I always said your looking for a squad of players you want to be able too mix and match and they all just fit in and out but this season as been way too much especially the last few games 🙁 Its not working Darren, need do something different and quick for the club. I really want this team to get the results but it needs to start happening now!!
