Port Vale manager Darren Moore praised his players’ performance after a 1-0 away loss to Lincoln City on Saturday afternoon.
The pressure is building on the Vale manager with his side bottom of the League One table but Moore felt there were positives in the performance during the 1-0 away loss.
Speaking to BBC Radio Stoke, Moore commented: “I thought from a neutral point of view I don’t think you’ve have seen a difference where both teams are in the league which is credit to the boys. It shows they are working together, staying together, working extremely hard. There was one moment that decided the game and it went to them. We came with a gameplan here and that’s what we did, we engaged them high up the pitch. A little tweak to the system and an extra attacker on today. I thought the boys did that really well today.”
The manager felt his team tried hard despite the defeat adding: “Obviously, decisive moments of the game decide the game but in terms of where the team was at and what the team did I didn’t see a team throwing the towel in today, that’s for sure. “To come here and limit Lincoln to very few chances is credit to them. The one chance they got was a real quality finish. It was a real quality transition of play that we’ll be disappointed in.”
Moore praised his team’s work ethic saying it was: “A whole hearted commitment from the team. It was a tight game today. For us to put in a performance like that, we didn’t lie down or anything like that and stayed true to ourselves and tried to get a result out of it.”
However, it still resulted in a defeat and Moore said: “It’s not nice. But obviously we look to the next one (match). We won’t dwell on this one too long because we have to turn it around and go again.”
The manager reserved praise for some players concluding: “I thought the balance of the team was good and I thought there were some real good combinations. Funso (Ojo) and Garrity were really workmanlike. Jayden (Stockley) and Devante (Cole) upfront. Hally (George Hall) and Ronan (Curtis). I though if you looked at those six then I thought they stepped up and engaged Lincoln was really good today. The way they played today, I thought they were excellent.”
To come here and limit Lincoln to very few chances is credit to them…

A magnificent defeat, well done everyone.
Think this clown was watching a different game to those of us who were at the match. It was only close cos as soon as they scored they knew they had been gifted “3 Moore Points” and didn’t need to score another. Of the players he singled out not one would have been 6 out of 10 or better and a couple would have been lucky to score 4 out of 10 and an unfit rusty stockley a solid 3. Final p*ss take was to bring on 2 subs for approximately 2 minutes and when you need to score you sub of the only guy capable of scoring a goal but we can all see a low on confidence, feeding off crumbs Devante Cole
The chorus of boos and cries of don’t know what your doing!!! WTF. GET THIS CLOWN OUT.
It’s goals that count Darren,we are not doing this and are rock bottom.Independant reports on the game are not anywhere near your assessment.
Down before Xmas embarrassing shambles of a club i really cannot believe Carol is that stupid she’s trusting this idiot CEO and absolute useless manager to at least try and turn this round. Seems to me we’ve excepted relegation so why should we keep going boycott needed for cup games.
Simply not paying to watch under Moore! I am sticking with my assessment. My money is safe! “Look what you could have won” Jim Bowen bully! We are down and out!
Well starting Tuesday the crowd or swell will show what is coming to the Vale Carol, get shut of Mr Moore and let him take Mr Hancock with him, I am fed up supporting Port Vale -nil.You are turning the Vale into a laughing stock, yes you are doing it as well as Moore and Hancock. Most of the players, yes most are not good enough, yet we the fans stood by you, Now it’s your turn to do your bit, GET PORT VALE manger who does not talk drivel and knows the game.A decent manager is as important as star player, ITS GOT TO BE DONE SOONER not LATER.
Whot game plan and it may have been good for the neutral but not for the vale fans no service for the front two not going to score if nobody in the box
Ace idea Lee, let’s boycott games
Alternatively, we could all turn up to SUPPORT them and create something resembling an atmosphere instead of just sitting there waiting for something happen, and getting on their backs when they do something wrong.
Too many have given up and it’s pathetic, it’s not supporting your team.
Are we underperforming with the squad we have? Initially I thought yes, not so sure now. Do I think Darren can keep us up? Few good signings in January (striker, right back, centre back) then yes I do. Are we already relegated? Absolutely not, we are 4 points from safety in our 1st season back in League 1.
I personally support my team regardless of who’s in charge, it’s where I’m from and what I’m all about, you should always keep going unless your one of the masses who attends the £10 games.
Get behind them and if Carol wants get rid, she’ll get rid, it won’t be another Crosby.
Delusional
We are 8 points behind 6th from bottom, that is 3 wins. Wait until after Christmas and that could be 12 or 15points, that’s 4 or 5 wins just to in with a chance of staying up. Carol and Mr Hancock ( or should we shorten it like the SAS did ) Mr Cock, that’s how urgent it is to act now . Whoever comes in after DM won’t have a chance of keeping us up.
