George Byers – “it’s not the time to get too down…”

Port Vale midfielder George Byers says the team needs to pick themselves up after the 1-0 loss to Wigan Athletic but they should not get too down about the end of their unbeaten run.

Byers says it’s a long season and the team is good enough to come back from the upset.

He told BBC Radio Stoke: “We’ve got to do better but it’s down to us to be honest, try to regroup, pick ourselves up and go again. Every game’s going to be different. We should be on top in games, especially against teams that go down to 10 men.

“We’ve been on a good run and it’s not the time to get too down. We’ve got to pick ourselves up and it’s another important week,” Byers said.

“I feel like we’ve got a good group and there shouldn’t be a ceiling on what we can achieve.

“We can’t get too down. It’s a long season.”
