Port Vale manager Darren Moore said no-one should underestimate opponents Burton Albion as his Valiants side prepare for Saturday’s early kick-off game.
Moore was speaking to the local media ahead of the game against Burton Albion at the weekend.
Moore’s thoughts
The League Cup draw
Really pleased to get through to the second round. Birmingham City’s a great fixture for us. Look forward to that tie when it comes around.
Ben Heneghan’s performance against Blackpool
He’s someone that I’ve admired a lot (in the past) in the way he carries himself, the desire to want to defend but also the leadership qualities he shows. A commanding centre-half. I thought the other night at Blackpool he was an absolute pillar of strength for us. Last year he had one or two niggles but he’s certainly come back and had an outstanding pre-season. His reading and understanding of the game is really, really good. He’s very composed on the ball. What a team player he is!
Goalkeeper Joe Gauci’s arrival
Another fantastic addition to the team. He will present a lot of competition in goal. Joe’s another one that’s highly motivated, an International player. To have Joe in with us is excellent and we thank Aston Villa for allowing us to have him. Good shot stopper, commanding in terms of dominating the box and he’s vocal.
The Burton match
They are real wonderful, connected team, hardworking team. The club has been in a bit of a transition. They are a team that is together, a team that is hardworking. They are very effective and efficient team. We have to be really ready. Another tough contest.
What’s changed since Rotherham?
Probably me losing my rag at half-time at Rotherham. It just wasn’t us. We made some terrible mistakes and we certainly addressed that. I was really pleased to see that consistency of approach that we identified against Cardiff.
