Midfielder George Byers was the scorer as the Valiants lost a behind closed doors friendly to Notts County on Saturday.
Lorent Tolaj was again missing from the line-up but George Byers and recent signing Marko Marosi both started the game.
The visitors took an early seventh minute lead through dangerman Jodi Jones. Vale countered with an effort from Byers before the same player brought Vale level on 25 minutes. Byers almost added a second but it was all-square at the break.

The Valiants started the second period brightly with a couple of efforts from Paton. However, County took the lead through a 82nd minute penalty with Jatta converting. The visitors made it safe on 86 minutes when Jatta netted from close range.
