Port Vale manager Darren Moore was full of praise for his players’ character after their dramatic 3-2 away win over Walsall.
A frenetic opening saw Vale take the lead before trailing 2-1 and coming back to lead 3-2 at the break. That was the final score as the Valiants briefly supplanted Walsall as the League Two leaders.
You have to remember where the players are emotionally and mentally and the magnitude of the game for both teams. I was pleased for half-time so I could get them in and talk about composure needed in games like that…
Moore told the media: “It was a really frantic, pulsating first 45 minutes. We raced to a one-goal lead and were then 2-1 down, credit to Walsall. Neither team could get their foot on the ball. The biggest thing I said to the players was about their character and resilience to be 2-1 down and then go into half-time with a 3-2 lead.
“We then spoke about playing the game not the occasion in the second-half. I said we needed to show a bit more composure, and we did show elements of that and took the sting out of the game. There had been a lot of action early in the game.
“It was loud in the stands, I don’t think anybody would have thought we would see five goals in the first-half. So, it was that type of game. You have to remember where the players are emotionally and mentally and the magnitude of the game for both teams. I was pleased for half-time so I could get them in and talk about composure needed in games like that.
“I thought we showed that in the second half and did really well because Walsall score late goals.”

A Magnificent Display from the Team ! – But Practice, Practise ‘Shooting from ALL angles – More Goals are needed from Strikers, Midfielders AND Wing Backs ! Our Poor GD at the Moment Could COST US at the end of the Season !

These players seem to know how to win games when we have backs to the wall. When Garrity pushes forward we are more in control and potent. But questions must be asked why Chislett was not even on the bench so come clean Mr. Moore and tell us what’s going on.
To the above well said enjoy being a vale fan with all its ups and downs so enjoy the massive e 9 points
